I spent most of the last 2 years slowly shedding what I realised was destructive for me - people, thoughts, beliefs, and expectations, and in the process unexpectedly opened up space for new possibilities and experiences.
Now it moves to the next stage of shedding a permanent location and downsizing everything into a minivan, a tiny apartment on wheels.
I’ll be on the road for 12 months, and where I’ll be will depend on which borders will be reopened.
It’ll be quite a change. I’m keenly aware of the amount of space I have been taking up and the things that I have accumulated over the years. More than 90% of most things will go. From 4,000 square feet over two stories to less than half the space of my existing bathroom. From 24/7 power, water and fibre broadband to solar-powered battery packs, 30-litre water tanks and mobile coverage. From 50+ shirts to 5. From a 65” screen to a 14”. From 4 bathrooms to none. All the walls and accumulated possessions that stood between me and the world outside will make way.
Last year i told myself “next year I will be…”, and now the new year is here with the starting line 3 months away.
The Rules:
Always ask for help when needed.
Never be an asshole.
Trust your instincts.
Trust your heart.
It was never to convince anybody else but yourself.
90 days left to get everything arranged and sorted. Preparations for #thedrive officially shifts into overdrive.
Let’s see where this takes us, shall we?
If only I was brave enough. Looking forward to following this blog James. Your rules will serve you well young Padawan!
