One skill to rule them all.
I realise that self-belief, confidence and trust in ourselves, and all the quotes and slogans like “believe in yourself”, “trust yourself”, “the universe will conspire to give you what you want”, “recognise your own abilities” etc, all comes down to this.
It’s doing what we are good at, putting in the effort, working towards something with a plan, and knowing that whatever happens, whatever the outcome, we are able to make something good out of it. That we will not only survive, but we will learn, grow and thrive.
That for whatever happens that we have no control over, we will have 100% control on how we respond to it and create something of value out of it.
When that happens, we will worry much less about what might happen, we will appreciate much more what has happened, and we pay more attention to what we want to happen.
We will naturally focus our efforts on enhancing our capabilities to be able to make lemonade out of lemons, fertiliser out of manure, and create something good out of nothing.
That’s when the possibilities really expose themselves, and we find a silly grin on our faces even when shit hits the fan.
Danger is real, but fear comes from believing we won't be able to handle whatever new situations, people and the world throw at us. That we wouldn’t know what to do.
Therefore the only way to overcome fear is to learn, skill-up, knowledge-up and enhance ourselves so that we can handle life as it happens, in whatever way that it chooses to happen.
I like this. A lot.
